after the fifa 16 winter transfers window, some players in the real-world start their career life in a new squad, and some return to their original squad since their loan deals ended. in fifa 16, ea make these same changes as quickly as possible, while player transfers happen in the real-world. 

when a player switches between clubs in real life, a new card of him with the new club is released. in other word, all transferred players get a new card(including the players on loan, excepting the players not in fifa 16 in the beginning of the game even if they’re moving to a fifa 16 licensed club). and if the player was in fifa 16 moved to a club that’s not in fifa 16, he will be removed from fifa 16 too. 

there are two transfer season: winter transfer(happens in january / february) and summer transfers(for the transition between games) on fifa 16. 

if you have a card of a player that moved to a new club, your old card will not get an update, because when a player moves to another club, the cards that start coming in packs have got the new club on it. but the old cards that already existed remain the same, with the old club on it. so there are 2 cards for one transferred player(one card to match the start of the season, and one to the club he’s transferred to, same for the players on loan)

only the club is different between the original card and the new one of the transferred player, if the same player is both transferred and upgraded at the same time, both situations are passed on to one single card. 

the things you should note is that once the new cards are released, league/club possible combinations increase, which makes it easier for you to build squads with good chemistry. and there will be more players available in the league you’re using if you have a squad. 

if you buy the players’card which that stop coming from packs in advance, you can sell it later for a much greater price when the market doesn’t have many to offer and they become rarer and more expensive. when a player goes to less popular clubs the new card’s price gets slightly superior, but after some time the old cards become rare enough to be considered the most valuable ones. when the player goes to a popular club, his new card’s price will start rising to the original value’s three times, but after a few days it’ll eventually get close to the old card’s value.
